A Live Musical Tribute to Peggy Lee
A Live Musical Tribute to Peggy Lee
It wasn't a difficult decision to choose Peggy Lee as the subject of this tribute record. Angela O'Neill and the Outrageous8 have been playing Peggy Lee tunes since their first octet rehearsal in 2016. And they’ve never stopped. We all admire her so much.
The LIVE record you are about to listen to is a collection of ALL ORIGINAL arrangements. These are some of our very favorite tunes, made famous by PEGGY LEE. You'll hear us playing them LIVE upstairs at Vitello's, Studio City, California, with all that goes with performing LIVE!
A lot of folks didn't realize that Peggy Lee recorded 1,100 masters, released 60 records, and wrote more than 270 songs. She performed live for 61 years, beginning in 1934 all the way through 1995. A truly astounding artist in every way!
Greg Curtis and Michael Rosen mixed these tracks, especially tricky with live recordings. Special thanks to: Musical Director, Sam Morgan, arrangers Harry Smallenburg and Rocky Davis, and the incredible Outrageous8. And special thanks to Foster Wells, Peggy Lee's granddaughter, for her comments about this outrageously special LIVE recording of FEVER. And, for her liner notes!
