Outrageous8 Records presents Take2 debut album with Ron Cyger and Brent Butterworth

New on Outrageous8 Records:
Take2, the debut album from Los Angeles jazz duo Ron Cyger and Brent Butterworth

“Take2 is a fun album, because Ron and Brent worked hard to break free of cliches and focus on the basics of solid melodies and accessible grooves. Everything about this project stands out as fresh and original, but it’ll still sound familiar to jazz fans.” –Angela O’Neill, president,

Outrageous8 Records

Take2 is the eponymous debut album of two Los Angeles-area jazz musicians: Ron Cyger on saxophones and flute, with Brent Butterworth on double bass, tenor guitar and ukulele. Available on CD plus Apple Music, Spotify and other streaming services.

Cyger has been active in the Los Angeles jazz scene for years, most notably as alto saxophonist with Angela O’Neill and the Outrageous8, and with his own Green Street Jazz Quartet. In addition to playing in Cyger’s quartet, Butterworth is a well-known audio writer for such publications as JazzTimes and Wirecutter.

Take2’s eight originals and one standard span multiple genres, including straightahead jazz, pop, bossa, mambo and blues. The tunes range from a simple alto sax and bass duet to fully arranged suites with percussionist Larry Salzman filling out the grooves.
